Car crash sends 2 adults and 2 minors to hospital

On March 15, a two-car collision occurred on Daniel Island in Charleston, South Carolina. It led to four people being hospitalized, including two minors.

The Charleston Police Department states that around 4:30 pm on that Friday, a 2004 Honda van traveling west on SC-41 disregarded a stop sign at the intersection of Halfway Creek Road and was struck by a 2007 GMC sports utility vehicle traveling north on SC-41. The three occupants of the van were taken to the Medical University of South Carolina with serious injuries. Two of the victims were minors.

The driver of the SUV was treated at an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The intersection of Halfway Creek Road was closed and was then reopened to vehicle traffic around 8 pm. At approximately 6 pm, a power line fell across the SC-33 where the intersection of Clements Ferry Road is. This unrelated event caused traffic to stop in both directions on Friday evening until utility crews secured the power line.

It seems that in this case, the driver of the van was at fault for disregarding the stop sign. The driver of the SUV may have good grounds for a personal injury lawsuit. Occupants of other vehicles who are in a car accident caused by the negligence of another motorist often suffer catastrophic injuries that require extensive and expensive medical care and treatment. In many cases, victims are unable to return to work during their recovery, which further exacerbates their financial situation. People who are in this type of a circumstance might find it advisable to have an attorney's help when seeking compensation from the at-fault driver.
