Georgia man struck and killed while pushing car

A 23-year-old Georgia man was killed during the early morning hours of Nov. 16 when he was struck by a car as he pushed a disabled vehicle on Forsyth Road in Macon. Deputies from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office are said to be investigating the crash, but media accounts suggest that no charges have been filed against the 42-year-old woman behind the wheel of the Acura sedan that struck the man.

According to a BCSO report, the man was pushing a disabled Chevrolet sedan along the rightmost southbound lane of Forsyth Road along with two other people when the group was struck. The car accident occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. in the vicinity of Wesleyan College.

A 48-year-old man who was helping to push the disabled car was also struck. He was transported to a nearby medical center by paramedics in what was described as stable condition. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A Bibb County Coroner's Office representative said that he died of blunt force trauma after being crushed between two cars. Initial media reports do not reveal whether or not excessive speed, distraction or impairment may have played a role.

Experienced personal injury attorneys may conduct their own investigations when law enforcement fails to identify the cause of a traffic accident. These efforts could include visiting the accident scene to speak with residents or individuals who work in the area that may have seen the events unfold but did not speak to police. Attorneys may also check the vicinity for security cameras that may have recorded the events. When the cause of an accident remains ambiguous, attorneys might have the vehicles involved inspected for signs of neglect or faulty repairs.
