Tourist files slip and fall claim against David Copperfield

Residents of Georgia have likely heard of the magician David Copperfield, who has become the subject of a lawsuit. A British tourist filed a claim stating that he experienced a slip and fall injury after David Copperfield asked him to take part in his magic act. The tourist's attorney explained to the jury that it was only a matter of time before an accident occurred.

Avoiding accidents with road raging motorists

One type of incident you might notice a spike in as temperatures in the Northern Georgia area heat up is road rage. Every year, hundreds of victims are injured in car accidents caused by road raging motorists. Some of these incidents result in fatalities. Though you may not normally hear about accidents involving extreme aggression, they are fairly common occurrences locally and across the nation.

Human drivers not necessarily safer than autonomous vehicles

Human errors cause the vast majority of motor vehicle accidents in Georgia. The widespread use of autonomous vehicles or self-driving cars could make the roads safer. Despite two recent deaths during autonomous vehicle tests, the technology has the potential to reduce traffic fatalities significantly.

Distracted driving poses a threat on the roads

People who drive while texting or otherwise distracted pose a major threat to roadway safety to people in Georgia and across the country. The rise of the smartphone with its numerous applications, social media services and opportunities for communication has been widely associated with the nationwide rise in driving while distracted. While distracted driving may be common, the results of distracted driving are dangerous and deadly. In 2015, 3,477 people were killed in accidents that involved distracted drivers.

Common causes behind commercial truck crashes

In an average year, roughly 15 million commercial trucks that travel throughout the U.S. Although such trucks transport many products that Georgia residents use, they can also be involved in significant accidents. In the past 10 years, truck accidents have gone up by 20 percent. The recently released Large Truck Crash Causation Study was tasked with trying to find out why fatal accidents involving such vehicles occur.
